Algorithms for Scheduling and Cooperation in Distributed Energy Markets

This project is to design, analyse, and implement algorithms for problems around clean energy technology adoption by energy users. With increasingly efficient and affordable solar PV panels, batteries and smart loads, the future electricity industry will likely count many active agents producing, consuming and storing energy depending on individual and shared, industry-level objectives. These agents will need to schedule their behaviour according to imperfect forecasts of evolving individual and system-level outcomes. Robust solutions based on parameterised and approximation algorithms will be implemented in an open-source framework. More broadly, we will study computational problems, incentives, and mechanism design for peer-to-peer energy trading and communities.
