Health Profiles and Service use in Intellectual Disability - A Data Linkage Study

Back to search results

This multi-disciplinary project will create a large linked data infrastructure to enable the interrogation of health service use, pathways, costs of health care and outcomes of people with intellectual disability (ID) in NSW. We will examine deaths, hospitalisations and emergency department presentations for a 15-year period, including before and after the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Such comprehensive health profiling has never been undertaken internationally. Findings will inform policy and practice for people with ID to ensure that health gains are shared by everyone and across every community in NSW, which is a priority in the State health plan.
