Building a smart campus - Big Data with Signal Processing

The success of big data has driven an explosion in the deployment of low cost sensors to collect more data but the nature of the data being collected is also evolving. Sensors now gather and transmit signal streams, such as video, audio, etc., instead of discrete data-points. However, current approaches to machine learning continue to treat them as discrete points which is sub-optimal. This project is positioned at the confluence of rapid development in data science, IoT and cloud computing and aims to lead the way towards a smart campus and eventually smart cities.

UG/PG in Electrical Engineering (Dual degree with Mathematics preferred) with strong background and interest in the following areas:

  • Signal Processing
  • Probability theory and stochastic processes
  • Machine learning and statistics
  • Programming (MATLAB, C++, Python)
